Knowledge Consulting Group (KCG) is a certified small business with a core competency in providing network and security services to Government clients. KCG serves as the prime contractor for the entire information security program for CIFA, where KCG is responsible for developing the performance based strategic plan for the Information Assurance Services program. KCG security engineers work with stakeholders and infrastructure team members to ensure CIFA systems, networks, facilities, and programs reach an acceptable level of security to attain Authority to Operate (ATO). KCG performs ongoing C&A of classified and unclassified systems, and is also responsible for developing, updating, and maintaining all SSAA’s for each CIFA system and network in accordance with DITSCAP and DCID 6/3 guidelines. KCG is also developing, updating, and reviewing the comprehensive set of security policies necessary to govern the day-to-day operations of CIFA systems and personnel.

KCG recently completed a vulnerability and risk assessment for the VA’s entire WAN infrastructure in accordance with the NIST series. The assessment consisted of a System Characterization Report, Self Assessments in accordance with NIST SP 800-26, Vulnerability Scans and Analysis, and a FISMA Compliance Assessment. The risk assessment included a Vulnerability Report and culminated in a Remediation Plan, which provided VA with a roadmap for mitigating risks to data traversing the VA WAN infrastructure.

he KCG experience base also includes support to the DIA where KCG staffed and operated the Information Assurance Protection Center (IAPC). The IAPC monitors more than 100 CISCO Secure NIDS sensors deployed worldwide. KCG also provides policy support at DIA by developing and implementing policies for ST&E criteria, defining audit requirements based on DITSCAP and DCID 6/3 guidance, and defining roles, responsibilities, and access levels for securing the communications infrastructure.
